History
At St Peter’s we believe that high quality history education will help pupils to gain coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. History should inspire pupils to be curious to know more about that of the life of people who have lived in the past. We teacher children to understand how events in the past have influenced our lives today and by doing so develop children’s ability to; make links and comparison between different periods of history, to think critically, ask their own perceptive questions, to develop and assess arguments, to explore different sources and to develop their own perspective and judgement.
As children progress through the school we provide them with a chronological understanding of the past. This is seen through the whole school overview where history is taught in chronological order so as to develop children’s own understanding of the progression of time.
