From September 2024
As a Catholic school we believe that all children should receive an education that is appropriate to their individual needs and that will enable them to take a full role in society as adults.
We believe that all members of our school community should be valued.
We feel that basic reading and writing skills are essential tools of learning and we feel that support should be given to those pupils whose emotional and behavioural difficulties; sensory or physical difficulties affect their education.
“Since every person of whatever race, condition and age is endowed with human dignity, he/she has an inalienable right to an education corresponding to his/her proper destiny and suited to his/her talents”. Gravissimum Educationis Vatican II.

Attendance – Important Changes from September 2024
The Department for Education (DfE) have made it illegal for Headteachers to grant any leave of absence during term time unless in exceptional circumstances.
Holidays, in any circumstance, cannot be deemed as ‘exceptional’. Parents have a legal responsibility concerning their children’s attendance, and local authorities can bring legal action against families where attendance levels cause concern.
Any period of unauthorised leave may result in you as a parent receiving a Penalty Notice Fine.
From September 2024, there will be updates to the National Attendance Framework for Penalty Notices in schools, including significantly increased fines for term-time absences.
Penalty fines will continue to be issued per parent, per child. For example: 3 children in a family being absent for term time leave would result in 3 fines for each parent.
National Threshold - There will be a single consistent national threshold for when a Penalty Notice must be considered by all schools in England of 10 sessions (usually equivalent to 5 days) of unauthorised absence within a rolling 10-school week period. These sessions do not have to be consecutive and can be made up of a combination of any type of unauthorised absence. The 10-school week period can span over different terms and school years.
First Offence - The first time a Penalty Notice is issued for a Term Time Holiday or Irregular School Attendance the Penalty Notice will be charged at: £160 per parent, per child paid within 28 days.
Second Offence - A second Penalty Notice to the same parent for the same pupil within 3 years of the first notice, the second Penalty Notice will be charged at: £160 per parent, per child paid within 28 days. Unpaid Penalty Notices after 28 days may result in a prosecution.
Third Offence and any further Offences - The third time that an offence is committed for either a term time holiday and/or Irregular attendance, a Penalty Notice will not be issued -the case can proceed straight to prosecution under the Single Justice Procedure.
If found guilty of the offence of ‘failure to secure their child’s regular attendance at a school’ the Magistrates can impose a fine up to £1,000.
We expect all pupils at St Peter’s to attend school clean, tidy and well presented in the correct school uniform. We aim to work together to make St Peter’s be the best it can be. Personal presentation is very important to encourage pride and aspirations, this goes alongside presentation of work in class and behaviour.
If you have any difficulties with financing uniform, please let the school office know.
PE Kit is part of the school uniform.
All uniform must be clearly labelled with the child’s name.
Pupils are responsible for their own uniform.
